Happy International Playdate Day!
January 21st is an International Playdate Day (who knew it existed, huh?). This holiday aims at bringing children and parents together through the act of playing and inspiring kids’ imaginations. International Playdate Day began as an idea created by Ilona Viluma, mother and CEO of GIGI Bloks, a Latvia-based kids toy company. As a mother, she has always been concerned about the technology kids have been using over the past decade. She came up with an idea of this holiday as a way to get kids to play with one another again and to get parents to start scheduling playdates for their kids.
As always, please send us any baby and kid-related news you would like to share with the rest of the parent world. Our email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Have a great weekend and maybe schedule a playdate or two to celebrate International Playdate Day ❤️

Dying Young in The United States: What’s Driving High Death Rates Among Americans Under Age 25 and What Can Be Done?
Americans ages 15 to 24 are twice as likely to die as their peers in France, Germany, Japan, and other wealthy nations. PRB Population Bulletin provides a comprehensive look at deaths of Americans under age 25 before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, examining who is most at risk of early death and why.
🔬🧬 Kids and Babies Related Scientific Research
Babies can tell who has close relationships based on one clue: saliva
Learning to navigate social relationships is a skill that is critical for surviving in human societies. For babies and young children, that means learning who they can count on to take care of them.
MIT neuroscientists have now identified a specific signal that young children and even babies use to determine whether two people have a strong relationship and a mutual obligation to help each other: whether those two people kiss, share food, or have other interactions that involve sharing saliva.
Exposing Kids to Safe Levels of Peanut When Young Might Prevent Allergy
Some kids might be able to get over their peanut allergy if they start immunotherapy while they're still toddlers, a major new clinical trial reports.
In the trial, a group of 1- to 3-year-olds with severe peanut allergies were safely fed gradually increasing daily doses of a peanut protein flour to help accustom their immune systems to the allergen. About one in five wound up able to eat a handful of peanuts without an allergic reaction, even after they'd been off their therapy for six months, researchers reported.
COVID-19 vaccines do not cause infertility, study finds
COVID-19 vaccination in either partner does not appear to affect fertility, according to new research led by Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) investigators. However, the findings indicate that COVID-19 infection among males may temporarily reduce fertility - an outcome that could be avoidable through vaccination.
